Kensington & Chelsea, London

Brief

Two separate retail properties to be opened out into one, larger retail space.

Description

The ground floor of this Edwardian building required a major refurbishment including a high level of construction and engineering expertise to ensure the integrity of the superstructure during refurbishment.

Project Details

The conversion of the two separate shop units into one meant the the main party wall (a supporting wall of the entire building) had to be removed whilst leaving the existing chimney breast in place.

The basement and ground floors were carefully and expertly propped by our contracted engineers before any works could take proceed.

Once securely and safely propped the wall could be carefully removed and the installation of new structural steel took place. This was then secured to the remaining walls and dry packed. Once the bolts and dry pack had hardened the props where removed all walls and surfaces made good. The steel work was encased to comply with fire regulations.

Site was cleared and for the incoming tenant to complete their shop fit out and décor.
